Our Pets at The Rainbow Bridge

So many animals have graced our lives with their presence. There is never enough time to honor them.

On this page we wish to honor those special dogs and cats who are awaiting us at The Rainbow Bridge.

Kissy does Michaelangelo

Kissy would reach for our hand, much like Adam reaches for God's hand in Michaelangelos painting, We named it "Michaelangelo" and Kissy learned to reach for us on that command.

Kissy was a master retriever of tennis balls, putting the retrieved ball quietly in your lap and patiently waiting for you to throw it again.

Once I fell asleep in the chair and woke up with 5 tennis balls in my lap, with Kissy waiting patiently at my feet for that first ball to be thrown.

Kissy was a Belgian Laekenois, a rare breed as per AKC rules; since 2008 allowed to compete in AKC events, all of them except conformation.

As with all purebreds the gene pool is smaller and any disease can be accentuated. Several nasty cancers run in Kissy's lines. She was never bred.

Belgian Laekenois Peer Var Letsager, featured elsewhere on this website, is fairly closely related to Kissy, their sires being brothers.  Peer has had every health check imaginable and he is healthy, not showing any signs of several inherited diseases. I do not know of a check for the cancer that destroyed Kissy.

If you have any breeding plans or are planning to buy a purebred dog please check the parents and their ancestry for these health checks. While it is no guarantee your dog will be healthy you will have a lot less chance of your dog developing some major health issues if the parents have been tested and found clear.

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of  heaven is a beautiful meadow with luscious green grass and beautiful flowers. This is where beloved pets go after they pass away. Their infirmities are no longer there. They run and play to their hearts content. They are never hungry or thirsty or lonely.

Every once in a while one of them will stop playing and look off into the distance: you have been spotted!  Moving towards a beautiful bridge you and your beloved pet meet up once again. Your face is licked, and you once again can stroke your pets beautiful fur.  Together you then cross the Rainbow Bridge.
